David Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [protein diet]

David asks…

I know that a high protein diet is used for weight loss and obese patients, but are there any other reasons?

I’m in my first semester of nursing school and have to make a high protein diet plan. I also have to know the reason why I would use a high protein diet. I have researched, and all I can find is that it’s used for weight loss. Can anyone tell me any other reasons?

admin answers:

Yes David, There are plenty of reasons.  Proteins food  is the stuff that builds and mends your skin, bones, muscles, tissue and organs.   In other words, without protein you are not alive.   Throughout human history, until just some forty years ago, the human diet was predominantly a protein diet.  While on the protein diet, people did not have weight problems and they had no need for diets.

That’s when some people decided to find a niche on the fringe of medicine.  Becoming experts on dieting seemed like a good idea.  It would not get them any legal problems and they had no competition.  All they had to do was convince perfectly slim, healthy people to diet.  Of course, since most people followed the traditional protein diet, there was little if any reason for anyone to diet.

But these people were resourceful and determined.   Cholesterol was a recent discovery and inexplicably, almost everyone tested, seemed to have high cholesterol.  Our new experts took a good look at our traditional protein diet and flipped it upside down.  They then depicted a pyramid of food groups in order of their considered importance.  It was largely made up of carbohydrates.  They called it The Pyramid Diet.  It was an exact opposite diet to the traditional diet that still ruled.  But that was to change.

These new experts gave themselves the title Nutritionists, and they announced they had invented a diet to cure cholesterol problems.  The rest is history.  A scare campaign caused  Millions of people around the world, to end up on the Pyramid diet.  It was a diet of mostly carbohydrates foods.  A food that is highly addictive when used in large quantities.    It took thirty years to reveal that the cholesterol emergency was phoney.   There was no huge cholesterol problem, the tests had simply been done incorrectly.  Instead of subtracting  the HDL LDL numbers they added them together. This guaranteed a seemingly major epidemic of high cholesterol which was to last for thirty years..

Today we have an obesity epidemic.  Type2 diabetes is close behind.  There are two reasons why you never hear the words ‘protein diet‘, and why more people continue to get more fat on various carbohydrate diets.  1. 60% of people are already addicted to carbohydrates and the number continues to grow.  2.  The so called experts depend on that addiction to continue to call themselves experts and the entire food industry has evolved for the same reason.  Without carbohydrate diets there are no weight problems and no carbohydrate addicts who depend on the diet food industry for their fixes.

The words protein diet strikes fear for everyone in the diet industry.   The last thing they want is for people to realize that they can lose all the weight quickly, on a protein diet, and never need to diet again.  It renders these people irrelevant.   That’s why you almost never hear those words.  it is also why there is a current campaign warning people of the many dangers lurking in a protein diet.  There are even vague suggestions that you may not survive  a protein diet.   Somebody ought to give these people a history lesson!

The industry, which has been backed into a corner are now forced to promote what they call a low carbs diet.  There is actually no such thing.  A food is either a protein or a carbohydrate or a fat.  To call it a low carbs diet is an oxymoron.  When you consider that most of their customers are already carbohydrate addicts, suggesting a low carb diet is like telling a drug addict to cut down, or an alcoholic to drink less.

For variety, the industry also advocates what they call a Balance Diet.  A balance of what?  Its the diet you suggest when you’ve run out of ideas and want to play it safe.   I hope all this answers you question lol.

admin answers:

Yes, a high protein diet will allow you to lose weight. Your ancestors survived on a high protein diet and did get fat.  If you read the above answer you’ll understand why.  Consume your carbs food from nutrient dense vegetables, like green salads (rocket, spinage, lettuce) and brocolli.

Drink lots of water – no fizzy drinks.

Get some regular exercise.

Thomas asks…

What does a high-protein diet do for your body?

I’ve heard of many athletes and bodybuilders following high-protein diet plans and was wondering what so much protein does for the human body.

Read my first answer and you’ll understand everything a protein diet does.    As for carbohydrates.  There is no such thing as a good carb a bad carb a nutritious carb or any other kind of carb.  At least not to your body. It  will turn all the carbohydrates foods you eat into glucose – without exception.  In other words, once inside your body all carbs food end up the same.  Glucose is another word for sugar.  It is the substance your body uses when you want to spend some energy.  If you don’t do much exercise you won’t burn much glucose.

Your body is not able to store the glucose you don’t use.  It is forced to turn it into body fat.    In other words.  If you eat a lot of carbohydrates, and you are not into a lot of sports and exercise – you’ll gradually get very fat.  You will also become a carbohydrate addict.
