George Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts

George asks…

I think I’m one of those carbohydrate addicts you talk about.

I’m told I need a 6 meal/day planner? How do I get one of those?

I have to say something here that I have wanted to say for a long time.   Since we changed our standard foods forty years ago, we have gradually lost touch with our own body.  In the past people knew just by instinct which foods were safe to eat.  They did not diet, they followed  Mother Nature’s diet just as their grandparents did.  It was our traditional diet.  It had been with us  and evolved with us for generations.  Our food was not an issue, it was a given.  Sure! we occasionally had a burger and other fast food, but we instinctively kept our carbs below 20%.  We did it without diets or calorie counters.

In fairness, we didn’t have the plethora of fake, factory carbohydrates foods that are around to tempt us today.  But then,

Most of those products would not exist, But for a ready made market of carbohydrate addicts craving for it.

Today people seem to need a chart, a list and a map just to decide on breakfast.  Because of widespread, irresponsible misinformation, people have lost confidence in their own instincts. They are no longer tuned in to their body. Most have no idea of what is right or wrong about food.

It shocks me to see so many people, particularly young people, so ready to hand over responsibility for their daily food and well being, to anyone who comes up with a plausible diet that promises a weight loss. The fact is diets don’t work no matter what they promise.  We are not built for diets and we are not built to get fat.

Mother Nature gave us a metabolism, a digestive system and all the foods we would ever need to remain slim, fit and healthy.   In that diet plan there was no room for factories churning out fake foods like processed flour, bread, cereal and a hundred other fake food that come off an assembly line.

Look around, everybody is getting fat.  Do you really believe that this is because people don’t stick to the latest concoction called a diet?  Don’t you find it strange that the more people diet the more people get fat?  The only diet related thing we have changed in the past 40 years is our food groups.  We went from eating mostly carbohydrates foods,  to mostly protein foods – virtually overnight.  Do you really think we can get away with that without consequences?

So what are those consequences?  What exactly has changed in those forty years?  Lets start with start with present obesity statistics, they estimate 60% of us have problems with weight. That is expected to reach 80% by 20202.   We also  hear doctors warning of a growing risk of a type2 diabetes epidemic. Despite the greatest advances in medical technology in our history, heart disease and bowel and colon cancer are at their peak.  In a pharmacy today you will find more medicines for gastric and intestinal complaints than any other kind.

Our metabolism and digestive system are works of nature.  When we changed from eating mostly healthy protein to mostly carbohydrate foods, we didn’t just signal a new diet, we changed nature.  We are beginning to learn that making changes to nature is not a very smart thing to do.

So what’s the answer?  The Carbohydrate Addicts Manual answers all the questions I’m sure you will have.  Even those you may not have thought off.  It helps you understand what is really going on inside your body, and what changes when you become a carbohydrate addict.  It is information every person should know. It will teach you how to cure your addiction and how to live an addiction free life. It means you will have no more food cravings or binges for the rest of your life.

When you stop being a carbohydrate addict you also stop having a weight problem.  It is that simple.  Very few people had weight problems forty years ago.  They were usually sick people – like diabetics.  But then we had to switch food groups and it wasn’t long before we had to diet.  For the sake of you and your family, you need to understand what happened and what you can do to change it. -  You will not want to see your kids turn in carbohydrate addicts when it can so easily be avoided.

Daniel Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts

Daniel asks…

Needed: a source for protein that is not carb/fat heavy?

I’m adding some vegan options into my food plan and with three meals, this is what I’ve come up with thus far:

Protein: 24.1 grams

Carbs: 145.3 grams

Fat: 9.3 grams

My diet is a 20/60/20 plan: 20 percent protein, 60 percent carbs, 20 percent fat.

BUT, with my current vegan food plan, my distribution is imbalanced at 12/78/10: 12 percent protein, 78 percent carbs, and 10 percent fat.

My carbs are too high because of how low my protein and fat intake is…I’d like to raise my protein intake and possibly my fat intake (WITHOUT raising my carb intake) by eating something vegan, but I have no idea of what to choose. (PLEASE do not respond with “you have enough protein“. I am an athlete and my protein needs are very specific and pre-determined by my doctor…not forum users.)

I’d like something that doesn’t taste or feel like sawdust in my mouth… It can be a snack, nothing fancy. I do love simple things and if it doesn’t require cooking or can be made in five minutes, even better. Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance…

Yes Daniel, I have several suggestions.  First I will ask you to read the previous answer.  It deeply concerns me when I see someone like you, trying so hard to do the right thing for your body.  Yet getting it so wrong.  You have been misled and that’s not your fault.  Your vegan options are wrong. These are carbohydrates foods and simply add more of a bad thing to your diet.

The first thing you need to know is that Proteins food are the building blocks of life.  They are the most critical, most important element in our food.  It is what builds, repairs and heals our bones, skin muscle and organs and it’s what grows our children. Without it there is no life.  Whatever pseudo science people try to conger up, they will never make carbohydrates foods do anything other than turn into sugar!  And even they know sugar is bad for you.

All those people who are out there plugging and pushing carbohydrates foods as an essential food for the body are not only wrong, they are selling you something and that something is very bad for you.  Whatever carbohydrates foods you put in your mouth. Whether is a vegetable, a piece of fruit, cereal, or bread or one of those obvious, manufactured carbohydrates.   To your body – they are all treated the same.  They are converted into glucose.

Glucose means sugar and sugar is the fuel your body burns when you use energy.  When you eat carbohydrates foods you are ultimately eating sugar.  If you don’t need energy, you won’t draw on any fuel. A carbohydrate has no value except as fuel. To say otherwise is like suggesting your car will run faster with more fuel. It’s plain silly. For most of us, we are usually left with a lot more glucose than we can use.  Since our body is not designed to store glucose it has only one option.  That’s to turn it into body fat.

Body fat is not the fat you eat, its the fat your body manufactures from the carbohydrates foods you eat.  Your suggested ratio of foods should be exactly opposite to what you have shown.  20/60/20 is just fine, except the 60 should be healthy protein – not carbohydrates foods. If you are a carbohydrate addict I must warn you that before you will find any normalcy in your diet, you will first have to cure your addiction. You can learn more about that below.
