Are We Sugar Addicts Or Carbohydrate Addicts? Here is Jessica Biel's Story!

319354 hourglass Are We Sugar Addicts Or Carbohydrate Addicts? Here is Jessica Biels Story! By definition, Sugar addicts are also carbohydrate addicts!

A lot has been said about carbohydrate addicts and what they should eat.

If you watch this video you’ll see how Jessica Biel feels about her addiction.

Today, the big diet news is to follow a low carbs diet.

The Carbohydrate Addicts Manual takes a very different view.

Instead of suggesting another low carbs diet, it confronts the addiction aspect head on.  No sane person tells an alcoholic to cure their addictionwith less alcohol. No one tells a heavy smoker to just cut to a packet a day.  We don’t do that because we know it doesn’t work.

Yet we tell carbohydrate addicts to find the solution in a low carbs diet.

There can only be two reasons for that. 1. We don’t have the right information. Or 2. We have a vested interest in ensuring that the addiction is managed and not cured.  A low carb diet is not a cure, it’s a band aid. It’s a grossly inadequate way to manage an addiction to carbohydrates and it will never lead to a cure. The reason we see diets as the only solution to this addiction is because of the strong influence of ‘vested interests’. Except for the addicts themselves, there is no desire by anybody to find a cure for carbohydrate addiction.  That includes governments, food related corporations, dieticians and nutritionists. This is an addiction that currently supports the massive cereal and snack food industries.  They in turn support an army of self-proclaimed diet experts who promote carbohydrate foods. They are backed by Quasi-science reports provided by the industry’s ‘research labs’.  There is also a formidable lobby of grain growers, who remind governments of where campaign funds originate. Is it any wonder that low carb diets are pushed to the forefront as the only solution to carbohydrate addiction? Human beings are not meant to diet.  Mother Nature didn’t design us that way. Our body cannot distinguish between a diet and a famine. At the end of a famine the body works very hard to restore all the weight we have lost.  That’s nature.  That’s why diets don’t work and why a diet will never give us a permanent weight loss. Around forty years ago, there was a massive cholesterol scare campaign which drove countless people to seek a cholesterol test.   At that same time, some people saw an opportunity. They took our traditional diet, and reversed it. They had a big poster made of a pyramid of food. The diet became known as The Pyramid diet. It was a diet hugely dominated by carbohydrates.  It was presented as the only solution to the mounting cholesterol problem.  The fact that practically everybody proved to have high cholesterol did a lot to cause a panic.  Most took refuge in the new diet. Of course today we know that for more than thirty years, till quite recently, every cholesterol test was wrong.  Instead of showing the hdl ldl ratio, they simply added the numbers together.  In other words:  There never was a big cholesterol problem to justify a complete reversal of our traditional diet. Because The Pyramid diet was promoted so successfully as a:  ‘Cure’ for cholesterol, it laid the foundation for carbohydrate addiction.  It has created the obesity epidemic and the very scary type2 diabetes threat we face today.  It is responsible for the highest ever rates of heart disease, colon and bowel cancer.  To top it off, many experts now claim it is also very ageing. So here is the real story behind carbohydrate addiction.  You will not have heard this before.  This is about an addiction as dangerous and debilitating as any you care to name. Few people understand it and nobody really talks about it.  When they do talk about it is to promote a low carbs diet. This is an addiction that already affects 60% of the population. By 2020 that number is expected to reach 80%.  Is it fatal?  It can be. It leads to morbid obesity, type2 diabetes, heart disease, colon and bowel cancer.  All those diseases can lead to death. It’s normal for addicts to want to defend their addiction.  They’ll have excuses like; I just love sweets, I just love food etc. Smokers love to smoke, alcoholics love to drink. These are addiction symptoms – not love. The fact is; diets don’t work – not – ever. They can’t because our body will not let them.  Nobody healthy and normal dieted 40 years ago. Today, almost everybody diets sometimes. The Carbohydrate Addicts Manual is about how so many of us, often unknowingly, have become addicted to carbohydrate.  It explains who and what caused carbohydrate addiction and how each of us can cure the addiction within our own family.  Hence the title: The carbohydrate Addicts Manual.   Click here for more on carbohydrate addicts

My Personal Story of my Weight Problems!

kirsten125x125 My Personal Story of my Weight Problems!

I think it’s time I put the story of my own personal weight problems on record.

I think it will explain my obsession with carbohydrate addiction.   Why it means so much to me, to share what I have learned about weight problems, with as many people as possible.

It was very early 1980’s.  It was before weight problems became a normal thing to most people.

Type2 diabetes was still unknown, as was morbid obesity.  I was diagnosed as a borderline diabetic and was referred to a dietician.

At age 43, I started my first diet.  I was slim, and if not for the doctor’s diagnosis, I would have thought, very healthy.  My doctor sent me to a dietician who put me on the already infamous Pyramid Diet.

The Pyramid Diet was the very first major diet ever launched.  It was said to cure high cholesterol which had suddenly become epidemic. (This is a moral tale you can learn more about here) It wasn’t long before I began to gain weight.  By the mid-eighties, I had serious weight problems.  I would diet, I would lose weight and I would regain it soon after.  After each successive diet, I would end up with more body fat than when I began.

In 1986 I gave up smoking.  This gave my doctor, my dietician and friends a gratifying reason to explain my weight problems.

For quite a while, it even made sense to me.  For the next twenty years, I experimented with every diet ever invented.  The more I would diet  the more weight I would regain.  I began to realize I was constantly craving food and I had started to binge eat.

It comforted me to remind myself of the link between my weight problems and giving up smoking.  A way of telling myself this wasn’t my fault.  But then I had a moment of enlightenment. It occurred to me that my symptoms were not diet symptoms.  I realized they were identical to my past cravings for cigarettes. They were addiction symptoms. It dawned on me that I had become a food addict.  Something nobody had ever suggested to me. What was worse, I was in early onset of what we now know as type2 diabetes.

I felt used.  I knew I had to find a way to cure my addiction.  I compared all my past diets, to the food I used to eat before I ever began to diet.  It was clear to me that carbohydrate was the culprit.  I had enough past experience with tobacco addiction, to know that cutting down never works once you are an addict.  It became my goal to cure my carbohydrate addiction for good, just as I had cured my tobacco addiction.

It was as if a huge burden had lifted from me.  It certainly did in a literal sense. My weight problems disappeared. So too did my addiction.  I have remained addiction free for more than seven years.  Not only have I cured my addiction, I have permanently cured my weight problems.  I will stay this way as long as I remain friends with my own body.  To my complete amazement, as I lost weight, I also lost the pre-diabetic symptoms.

I have learned to eat the right food.  These days, food  has become much less important to me.  I still recall how it felt to be pre-occupied with thoughts of food all the time.  Now I rarely think about food. There are so many other things to think about.  I have no more early symptom of type2 diabetes.  My weight is normal and no longer fluctuates.  To sum it up: I have remained addiction free, symptom free, and at the same body weight for more than 7 years.  I no longer have any food cravings and I never feel the urge to binge eat.  I know with absolute certainty that I will never diet again.  I won’t need to.

I have completely re-focused my feelings about my own body.  Instead of spending time worrying about my external appearance, I now spend an equal time making sure my internal system is happy.  It’s a place that used to be a foreign country to me. A place I thought only a diet expert would understand.  Since I now know how the body works, nobody can understand my body better than I do.

Because I know how the body works and I know what it expects from me.  That already puts me streets ahead of any “diet expert”.  I have made friends with my body.  My metabolism and digestive system work together.  They make me look and feel as healthy as I have ever been.

To gauge just how unusual that is, you can go to any home, in any town or city.  You’ll find a bathroom cabinet with at least one or two medications for a gastric or intestinal conditions.  You can visit any hospital, where they can tell you about huge waiting lists for colonoscopies. They will never be completed because they keep filling up with new names.  Forty years ago we had none of that. The vast majority of people were slim people.

Today we have a well recorded obesity epidemicType 2 diabetes is expected to follow.  Doctors will tell you that we have the highest rates ever, of heart disease, colon and bowel cancer.  We are all eating the wrong food, we are choking on diet talk and we are shortening our lives and that of our children’s.

There is nothing healthy about the balanced diet, or the low fat diet, or the nutritious diet, or any other diet.  Not even the low carbs diet.  The simple fact is that diets don’t work.  They can’t. Our body won’t let them.  The reality is that the human body does not adapt. – It evolves.  And evolution is slow. It takes centuries, not a few decades.  If you want to learn more please watch the video at:

Wanna Lose Weight For Good?

1288795 young woman sitting with an encyclopedia Wanna Lose Weight For Good?      Is there a point to working hard, to try to lose weight, if you don’t lose it for good?

Like most people, I am sure you have had reasons to want to lose weight.  Perhaps you have tried many times.  If so, by now, you will have come to the realization that diets don’t work.  That’s a good thing, because you are absolutely right. Diets don’t work.  You must promise yourself never again try to use a diet to solve your weight problems.

No human being can lose weight  for good on a diet and here is why.

Your own body will not let you.  It’s programmed to recognize a famine, not a diet. As far as your body is concerned, there is no difference between a diet and a famine.

Unlike a diet, your body has been programmed to handle a famine.  It slows down your metabolism and prepares to store body fat.  As soon as the famine is over, your body goes to work to repair the damage and to re-gain every bit of weight that was lost during the famine.  Your body will not rest till it has restored not just the weight you lost, but an extra layer of body fat to protect you against the next famine.

So is there a genuine way to get a permanent weight loss?  The answer is yes.  But you will never find it with a diet.  To lose weight longer than fleetingly, you need to first learn the cause of your weight problems.  First you need to understand why you must never diet again.  You need to learn what happened forty years ago, to trigger the weight problems and obesity epidemic we endure today.  Make no mistake, even if there a few ‘experts’ who know how the body works, it’s not in their interest to tell you.

You will also need to learn about carbohydrate addiction.  It is not the benign, sweet tooth mindset, that ‘diet experts’ would like you to believe and no – it will not be cured with a low carbs diet.  You should bear in mind that the people who persuade you to diet, are not in business to cure either your carbohydrate addiction or your weight problems. They are certainly not in business to help you lose weight for good.  Yes, they want you to lose weight, but they don’t expect the weight to stay away for long.

Their expectations are that you’ll be back for a new diet in a year or two, even sooner. Why?  Because they know diets don’t work and the more you diet the fatter you get.  So do exactly what they don’t expect you to do: Stop dieting.  Give your body a chance to heal all that damage wrought by your diets.  Learn how to help your metabolism get over the damage your diets have caused. Help it get back to the job it was programmed to do:  To control and Balance your weight.  This was never meant to be YOUR job.  You can trust that your body, when it works, will perform a far better job than you could ever hope to do.

Please believe this: You have not failed your diets.  Nobody could have done any better.  If there’s a fault it is not with you, it’s with every diet you have ever used.  All diets are an insult to your own body and a confrontation with nature.  An argument with nature is an argument you will never win.

Don’t believe in promises.  Don’t believe in miracle diets or good news stories.  The self-nominated experts, who are so glib and clever with ‘diet talk’ are the same people who can’t tell you what will happen to the food you eat, after it has passed your lips.  Begin to trust your body, make friends with it and learn to understand it.  Get it back to work just as nature always intended.  I can promise you, you’ll never regret it.  This is not rocket science but it’s a manual that can teach you how to cure your carbohydrate addiction and  lose weight for good. It will improve your life and make it a lot longer.

Carbohydrate Addiction V A Low Carbs Diet!

792152 mother and daugther1 Carbohydrate Addiction V A Low Carbs Diet! When I think of a low carbs diet in relation to carbohydrate addiction..

I literally cringe!

Look at it this way: If you have a friend who smokes or drinks heavily, and appears to be out of control, you may suggest they cut down on their usage.  But deep in your heart you know they’re not likely to change their behaviour till they cure their addiction.

The same applies to a drug addict.  Even a person very close to you, if addicted to drugs, would laugh at you for suggesting they should cut down on their drug use.

Yet that’s exactly what we do when we tell a carbohydrate addict to go on a low carbs diet.

So what’s so different about carbohydrate addiction?

That’s just it, there isn’t one.  Carbohydrate addicts suffer cravings, withdrawals, binges, headaches, pains in their body and low self-esteem.  If they continue their addiction they face the risks of morbid obesity, type2 diabetes, heart disease, colon and bowel cancers.  All these diseases are potentially fatal.  People who ignore the consequences of  carbohydrate addiction are likely to face a much shorter life. The quality of life, for their children is destined for the same risks and the same future.

For the past forty years, people have been subtly trained and induced to distance themselves from their inner body.  That part of us has gradually become the domain of self-elected diet experts and Guru’s.   Our focus now is all about the exterior of our body.  We are catered to by cosmetic companies, fashion companies, vanity surgeons and diet experts.  Our appearance overrides everything, including our own internal system.  We expect experts to look after that with miracle diets, exercise programs and pre-packaged detoxifications.

We are simply too busy with our exterior to give our interior body a thought.  It is interesting to note that till forty years ago, people knew how the body works.  They understood the consequences of not listening and responding to their metabolism and digestive system.  The inside of pharmacies in those days looked very different to how they look today.

Carbohydrate addiction is not benign. It is not harmless and it does have consequences.

Many of those consequences are deadly serious.  The obesity epidemic is a fact.  Type2 diabetes is close to epidemic numbers.  We have the highest ever rates of heart disease, colon and bowel cancers.  These are just the fatal diseases we risk. There are dozens less dangerous diseases that will impact our lives.

Every person in the country can find a remedy tucked away in a draw or a medicine cabinet. A medication for indigestion, constipation, heartburn, reflux and a dozen other diet related complaints.  We assume that’s normal.  But it represents a signal to us that our body is not coping with our diets and behaviour.  The diets we follow today are in direct conflict with our own body.

So why do responsible, seemingly well intentioned people like nutritionists and diet guru’s claim to know how to solve your weight problems.  They believe they know what they are talking about because they are fed irresponsible quasi science by their sponsors.  They are cereal diet and snack food manufacturers.

These are very powerful corporations, with lobby groups close to governments. They in turn are supported by the grain growing industry.  Nobody, including your government, is going to contradict their ‘expert’ advice.  These multi-billion dollar corporations, are wholly dependent on your diet and weight problems.  Do you honestly think they’re going make it easy for you to change your beliefs and behaviour?

So what changed forty years ago that could force people, who had never needed a diet, to suddenly accept food so different to what they were used to?   What changed us all was an event that would make people in their millions, abandon a diet that had been with us for generations. It would make us forget what goes on inside our body and begin to put all our focus on our external selves?

It was a world-wide cholesterol scare campaign.  Millions of people proved to have high cholesterol.

To help push carbohydrate addiction along, a new profession was created.  People who harboured a desire for a niche on the fringe of medicine, boldly decided to create a diet to cure high cholesterol.  They called themselves Nutritionists.  No formal qualifications were necessary. They closely examined our natural diet and figured the best way to get an original diet, was to completely reverse the old one.  They had a poster made depicting a pyramid.  Hence the diet became known as the Pyramid Diet.

Heavy undertones abounded that this was indeed the first modern, scientific way for people to eat.  An entire Quasi-science scenario was built around the diet.  In time the diet was recommended by many doctors.  It was a magnificent accomplishment for people who had no knowledge of science or medicine.

This new diet was, we were told, specifically designed to combat high cholesterol.  A lot of people were driven by fear to switch to this new way of eating.  What nobody knew was that the scare campaign about cholesterol was a beat up. It was false.  Why? Very few people would have actually suffered from high cholesterol. The test methodology was wrong.  Instead of gauging the HDL LDL variation, they simply added the numbers together.  This inevitably produced a high cholesterol reading for most people.

Our first instinct is to imagine that such a fraud would have been unmasked very quickly.  But that’s not what happened.  It took around thirty years for the powers that be, to confess there had been an error.  When it finally happened, it was quiet, subdued and very low key.  By that time there was a massive industry in place, build on the premise that carbohydrate  is the foundation for energy and good health.  They will not sit still for an outcry about carbohydrate addiction.

I have yet to hear of anyone prepared to ask these rather simple, obvious questions:  What did a complete reversal of our diet do to our internal system?  Why, during the reign of the pyramid diet and other carbohydrate diets, have we also experienced an epidemic of obesity?  Why are our lives suddenly threatened by type2 diabetes and morbid obesity.  These are two diseases that did not even exist forty years ago.  Why is everybody still getting fat and why has ‘protein’ become a dirty word?

We all need to accept that Diets don’t work.  Our body is programmed to treat a diet as a famine.  Nature will make sure every ounce of fat you lose in a famine is restored as soon as possible. It will even including a few extra pounds for protection against the next diet.

Today Carbohydrate addiction is at a cross road.  We want to ignore it. To call it an innocent love for sweets, Pizza or some other carbohydrate.  But already, victims exceed 60% of the population.  We have tipped the half way mark and the figure is already expected to reach 80% by 2020.  Don’t wait for others to act to help you.  Only you and those who love you will want you to change anything.  Take charge of your life and cure your carbohydrate addiction. If not for your own good, then do it for your children’s future. If you click the link to The Carbohydrate Addicts Manual, you’ll find a video and other relevant information about carbohydrate addiction.

Do You Ever Wonder How The Body Works?

Can you explain to someone how the body works?

Kirstens flower 150x150 Do You Ever Wonder How The Body Works?

I have created a new video.  I hope you find it informative and helpful.  Please post your views and comments.  They are always appreciated.

I think you will agree that very few of us give our internal body a second Thought.  We all think of ourselves in terms of our exterior. Like our skin, our hair, our body our looks etc.  Yet it is inside that the really important stuff takes place.

Just a few decades ago, most people had a connection to their body. They knew how the body works.

They knew the type of food that was important to our metabolism and digestive system and they knew how our body would respond.

Today that has all changed. We have passed the responsibility of our body’s health and welfare to people who call themselves experts. It has become all too hard.

A few people can still explain how the body works.

Even fewer people know how our internal system responds to a diet – any diet. But what is truly scary? Nobody really cares!

I hope this video will help to change that!

You Honestly Think Carbohydrate Addiction Is No Threat To YOU?

Here are a few Q’s and A’s about carbohydrate addiction and why you should be worried!

1155909 family You Honestly Think Carbohydrate Addiction Is No Threat To YOU?

Q. Exactly how serious is Carbohydrate Addiction to YOU!

A. It’s a greater threat than drug, tobacco or alcohol addiction because it is a lot more common and what’s worse, it’s legal.  Even children are encouraged to get addicted!

Q. You find that hard to believe?

A. It is estimated that more than 60% of the population are addicted to carbohydrates. That number grows daily!

Q. If it’s so bad, why does the government not put a stop to it?

A. All governments are under duress from the giant cereal and snack food manufacturers, as well as grain growers, nutritionists and diet guru’s. Their products promote carbohydrate addiction.  The corporations have their own in-house science labs. From there they support the government and self-elected experts, with money and fake science. As long as ‘experts’ like these preside on government enquiry boards and make decisions on what our kids will eat at school, nothing will change.  The obesity epidemic, along with carbohydrate addiction, which plagues children and adults alike, will be passed on to the next generation.  The government will do nothing to stop that.

Q. If you have a weight problem, should you automatically be worried about carbohydrate addiction?

A. A weight problem is a sign you are eating too many carbohydrates.  Chances are you are already addicted.

Q. What are the symptoms of carbohydrate addiction that will verify if you are addicted?

A. They are the same as all other addictions: Cravings, withdrawals, binges, depression, headaches and other aches and pains!

Q. Is Carbohydrate Addiction fatal?

A. It can be. It leads to morbid obesity, type2 diabetes, heart disease, colon and bowel cancer. All are potentially fatal!

Q. Will cutting down on fat help you lose weight?

A. If you reduce your fat intake, you will stimulate your addiction. Eating less fat will ultimately make you fatter.  Butchers these days have a lot to answer for. They have emaciated and ruined what we used to call good healthy meat!

Q. How is that possible?

A. It’s not the fat you eat that makes you fat.  The problem is the carbohydrates you eat, and don’t spend on fuel.  They are converted to body fat.  That’s the fat that makes you fat.  The more carbohydrates you eat the more body fat you get!  The proof is all around you.  Everybody is getting fat.  Today we all eat way more food than our body needs, particularly carbohydrates.  You would need to be a high powered top athlete to burn all the carbohydrates you eat for fuel.

Q Will a low carb diet help you lose the weight?

A.  A low carb diet is useful only if you are not addicted to carbohydrates. Cutting down on carbohydrates is no different than cutting down on cigarettes, alcohol or drugs.  It does not cure the addiction.  The addiction will always win out and sooner or later the fat will be back.  With each diet, a little more fat than before!

Q. What diet should you choose to lose weight for good?

A. You shouldn’t diet at all. When you diet you declare war against your own body.  It doesn’t understand diets. It responds as if you are in a famine.  It slows you down and begins to store body fat.  As soon as you return to normal, your body is programmed to restore the weight. It even adds a bit extra to protect you against the next famine!

Q. Is there anything you can do to lose the weight for good?

A. Yes!  But it begins with curing your carbohydrate addiction.  As a carbohydrate addict, you cannot be around food temptations any more than a drug addict can be around available drugs.  But unlike a cure for drug addiction – you do not have to give up food.

Q. What happens if you cure your carbohydrate addiction?

A. You return to normal weight. The cravings, binges and hunger pains disappear.  You free up all that time you’ve been using,h to just to think and dream about food.  That’s free time to enjoy your new body and to put some fun back in your life!

Here are a few additional questions that probably should have been asked:

  1. Why were we mostly slim people till the late seventies?
  2. Who caused the biggest medical gaffe in 40 years that we pay dearly for today?
  3. What caused people to become carbohydrate addicts?
  4. What triggered carbohydrate addiction?
  5. What can we do about it, to fix it for good?

The answers to those questions and many more can be found in;

The Carbohydrate Addicts Manual

How To Lose Body Fat For Good?

The question; how to lose body fat for good?  Has a multitude of answers.

images 21 164x300 How To Lose Body Fat For Good?

But every answer will be different and every answer will be wrong.  Human beings are not designed to build body fat in the first place.  That was not part of nature’s design.  We were not supposed to get fat.  Over the past forty years, we have proved conclusively – that diets don’t work.  They can’t, our body won’t let them.

When we experiment with ideas of how to lose body fat…

When your body senses a weight loss, it responds as it is programmed to respond to a famine.  It slows you down and prepares to store body fat.  Once the famine is over, your body will not rest till every ounce of body fat has been fully recovered and put right back where it belongs. – On your body.  It will even add a few extra pounds to protect you against the next famine.

That’s nature!  And we always lose when we challenge nature.  So how DO WE lose body fat fast,  and for good?  Before we began to diet forty years ago, virtually all of us were slim people.  An obesity epidemic would have been unthinkable.  A sudden appearance of obesity in children would have caused an outrage.  Diets were for sick people and crackpots.

But something awful happened. We were fooled into reversing our traditional natural diet.  It began with a fake scare campaign about cholesterol.  We were coerced to start the first ever human made diet called the Pyramid Diet.

The pyramid diet was said to be a scientific new approach to eating.  In reality, science had nothing to do with it.  It was merely an exact reversal of our natural diet.  The pyramid diet was never tested.  No trials were ever conducted.  Nobody ever asked if a reversal of our natural diet could be harmful to our body.

Who was responsible for the pyramid diet?  They were unqualified people who were keen to create a niche for themselves on the fringe of medicine.  They said they were experts and called themselves Nutritionists.  They got a lot of airtime and press by talking about cholesterol. They claimed their pyramid diet was the only cure for high cholesterol.

There was a lot of quasi science to support them.  It was usually furnished by the burgeoning cereal and snack food industries.  They were equally anxious to gain credibility and they had deep pockets..  As normally healthy, slim people began to gain weight, Nutritionists quickly became ‘experts’ on how to lose body fat.

So what has nutritionists, their Pyramid diet, their low fat diet and all the other miracle diets done to promote a healthier population?  The answer can be seen everywhere. It’s all around us.  Everybody is getting fat.  We have been getting fat gradually, over the past forty years.  In fact, ever since we began to diet to lose body fat.

You see, our body is not designed to carry large amounts of body fat.  For centuries we evolved, along with a natural diet that developed as we became ever more sophisticated.  It evolved with us, making small additions and broadening our food choices, gradually over long periods of time.

When we suddenly reversed our natural diet, we did much more than change our food.   We challenged nature.  We tried to force the human body to adapt to our will.  Yet, the human body can never adapt – it evolves.  Evolution takes centuries. Not four decades.   The damage we have done can no longer be fixed by simply restoring our natural diet.  A low carb diet is even worse. That would be like telling an alcoholic to drink a little less or a drug addict to curb their addiction.

You see this is no longer about food. It’s about addiction.   Carbohydrate addiction to be precise.  Until we cure our addiction, we will have no control over what we eat.

If you learn how to get your own body to help you cure your addiction, you will lose all your excess body fat and you will finally join the slim people , where you belong.  Why should your body help you?  It wants to lose body fat just as much as you do.  Perhaps even more.  Your costs are mostly external.  Your body’s costs are close to being life threatening.

Your body knows how to lose body fat for good, but it needs your help to make it happen!

Carbohydrate - Another National Epidemic!

We often hear people speak of  carbohydrate in terms of addiction.

You can trust that they are very close to the mark.

An Addiction to carbohydrate is a growing phenomenon.

The origin can be traced back some forty years.  That’s when a scare campaign about high cholesterol drove millions of people to reverse our natural diet.  They switched from a centuries old traditional diet.  To a new, and to this day, untested diet that became known as the Pyramid diet.

Nobody thought to ask if this could cause changes to how the body works. Was it safe to force our body to digest a complete reversal of the foods that had been standard for centuries.  Today we get the answer when we look around and realize, everybody is getting fat.  Those of us who can look back beyond forty years can testify that was a time when being normal, meant being healthy, slim people.  Today normal means obesity, or having weight problems that will eventually lead to obesity.  It also means a high risk of heart disease, type2 diabetes, colon, bowel and other deadly diseases.

The new diet proved a bonanza for a then burgeoning food manufacturing industry.  For the past forty years, we have witnessed the production of countless, new, factory processed ‘food’ products made from sugar, flour, cereals, grains and rice.  We call them snack foods, breakfast food, desserts or just plain comfort food.  They all have two things in common.  They are highly addictive and the human body has not evolved to process that type of food.  Evolution takes eons, not four decades.

Today we have an  obesity epidemic that we didn’t need to have.  Our body was not designed to be fat.  It does not have the natural capacity to store large amounts of body fat. Evolution could not have anticipated that human beings would one day starve themselves on a regular basis – on purpose.  Our body understands famine, not diets.  That’s why it will always recover our weight loss.  With each diet, we get some extra fat to protect us against the next famine.  That’s why every diet makes us a bit fatter.

Our body will process all carbohydrate and turn it into glucose.

That means every processed carbs food, every vegetable and every piece of fruit.  It all ends up as glucose.  What is glucose?  It’s liquid sugar which is the stuff our body uses to burn energy. If we don’t spend that energy right away, the glucose is converted to body fat and stored on our body.

We eat a vast amount of carbs food every day.  Most of us have  chosen a sedentary lifestyle.  We are simply unable to burn more than a fraction of the glucose our body produces daily.  We have to stop fooling ourselves into believing that carbs food equals energy.  The truth is, carbs food equals body fat.

Today we eat more than twelve times the amount of sugar our great grandparents consumed.  That’s roughly equivalent to 160 pounds of sugar per person per year.  Most of it will end up on your hips, thighs, tummy, in your arteries and around your vital organs.  Now that’s just the actual sugar you eat.  What about all the other carbs food you eat every day?  It becomes liquid sugar/fuel.  Unless you are a top athlete, how much of that fuel do you think will end up as body fat?

We get no factual health education from our government.  The food industry and grain growers lobby has seen to that.  So here is the bottom line: Carbs food which includes sugar, are highly addictive foods.  Unlike heroin, carbs food won’t kill you in a single overdose.  But over time it triggers type2 diabetes, morbid obesity, heart disease, colon and bowel cancer.  Each of these diseases will kill you – eventually – and just as permanently as heroin.

When you become a carbohydrate addict, your body can no longer burn fat effectively.  That means all that moderate to low-glycemic and complex carbohydrate, gets stored as fat.   When we talk of a dangerous addiction we normally suggest a cure.  Not so with carbohydrate addiction.   Like the tobacco industry in the past, too many people profit from the addiction.  A lot of power is vested in a few people, with corporations that employ self-elected experts.  These ‘experts’ have presumed to take charge of our diet because – well, seems we are not competent enough.

It’s true, many of us have lost the ability to look after our own body.  We expect constant diet advice and support from people who prove daily they don’t know how the body works.  Maybe they don’t want to know.  They certainly do not want you to know!  You must take back control, because if you don’t, not only will you be lost, but so will your children and grandchildren.  To learn how your body works is not rocket science.  To make you want to learn…Well,  let me give you an incentive:  Learning how your body works will teach you how to cure your addiction to carbohydrate.  Once you do that, you’ll suddenly realize you no longer have a weight problem!  Your weight will finally be normal.   Now, how is that for incentive?

We all have an obligation, even a moral duty, to do all we can to protect and already damage new generation from a lifetime of carbohydrate addiction, obesity and even type2 diabetes.   We have the knowledge and means to make sure that our generation will be the last to grow up as carbohydrate addicts.  There are experts who view carbohydrate addiction, along with the food cravings, withdrawals and binges that follow, as a physical rather than a mental condition. They believe biology is the trigger to carbs food cravings. Cravings associated with carbohydrates are as significant as any craving for drugs, tobacco or alcohol.  Carbs food addicts show the same symptoms of addiction and require almost the same treatment to be cured.

Addictive Carbohydrates are not just starches, snack foods, junk food, or sweets. They involve all carbs food like grains, cereals, sugar, flour, rice and any products made from those foods.  Other carbs food, like vegetables and fruit, are, in some cases, also addictive.  It depends on whether or not the human body has evolved to tolerate a particular type of carbohydrate.

How do we recognize carbohydrate addiction in ourselves and in others?

We observe the symptoms, such as cravings, withdrawals, binges, headaches and other aches and pains. Processed and refined carbohydrates, are often used as comfort food.

They feed a carbohydrate addiction as effectively as a sniff of cocaine and a shot of heroine feeds a drug addiction.

With each fix, a carbohydrate addict, increases their blood sugar and insulin levels. This stimulates even more carbohydrate cravings.  It also causes higher levels of serotonin – a brain chemical that acts like Prozac. We see an actual demonstration of this in the accompanying video where a young child is given a high dose of carbohydrate, in this case,  fast acting white sugar.  This quickly leads to a sugar ‘high’, right before our eyes.

Overeating, due to food cravings, tend to cause stress.  When our body is tense, it causes the adrenal gland to produce larger amounts of the hormone cortisol. This in turn will stimulate the production of the brain chemical ‘neuropeptide Y’.

It acts as a type of carbohydrate craving switch. Neuropeptide Y will also make the body retain any new body fat it produces. It means that tension doesn’t just help to trigger carbohydrate cravings it also makes it much harder to lose weight. The surge of Cortisol stimulates insulin.  This results in blood sugar dips and increased fat storage.  It becomes a vicious, self-propelling cycle.

Eating, particularly to a carbohydrate addict,  is not only a biological necessity it is driven by a strong negative emotion that evokes an urge for some kind of ‘comfort’ food.  To find the solution we need to observe how experts handle other addictions with very similar symptoms.  Food cravings are physical and they are unlikely to be successfully treated with mere emotional support.

There is also no evidence that drug, tobacco, alcohol or carbohydrate addiction, can be treated with a smaller dose of the abusive substance.

In other words, there is only one solution to an addiction, even a carbohydrate addiction.  That is to cure the addiction, rather than try to manage it with a low carb diet or any other diet food plan.  The cure must include a course on how to reprogram an entrenched lifestyle.  This must first and foremost consider the welfare of our own body.  It’s time we put the interests of our body, ahead of the choices and fads of our visual preferences and our fickle taste buds.

The fact is, till forty years ago, very few people had weight problems and diets were reserved for sick people and ‘hippies’.  Weight problems began when we were tricked into reversing our traditional diet.  This went on to launch the Pyramid Diet.   How that came about is a whole other, disgraceful story.  Our body was not designed to diet.  The food most of us eat today doesn’t make us healthy.  The diet we follow makes us lose weight quickly and put it right back on again, plus a little extra fat for protection against another self induced Famine.  How do we confirm this?

Take a good look around, everybody is getting fat. If what we are doing – has worked, we would have no more weight problems.  Instead, we have an obesity epidemic in full swing.  The medical profession has issued several warnings that type2 diabetes, which did not exist forty years ago, is now approaching epidemic proportions.  Heart disease, colon, bowel and other cancers are at their highest levels ever in our history.  Does this sound like a healthy population?
