Jenny Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

Jenny asks…

I am switching from a low carbs diet to a low fat diet.

Do you think I will gain weight?

I have been on a low carbs diet for seven months and I’ve lost 25 lbs. I have pleateued at the same weight for about 3 months. I want to try and exercise more but have no energy to run as much as I used to before the low carbs diet. I also miss fruits, whole grains and cereal.   I need more fiber in my diet.  Its very hard to use the bathroom on a low carbs diet (if you know what I mean). I know I lost weight on the low carbs diet and I’m scared to death of what will happen if I switch back I will regain. I’m just so confused! And if I do add carbs food back should I still limit them? Like only at breafkast and lunch? Someone who is nowledgeable please help!! Thanks so much.

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

admin answers:

You have good reason to be scared.  You have even better reason to be confused.   I have been on a very low carbs diet for 7 years.   In that time I have remained slim and healthy. For fibre, I use 3 tablespoons of unprocessed natural bran every day.  I have gone from  borderline type2 diabetes, to having no more symptoms.  I have never been healthier or stronger.  Nothing could induce me to return to the carbs food  I used to eat.

Your feelings of a loss of energy could be for many reasons but certainly not from a lack of carbohydrates.    Your ancestors always lived on an extremely low carbs diet.  That’s the diet our body was designed for.   It has helped us survive and thrive for centuries.  Your lack of energy may well be part of your recovery from carbohydrate addiction.  As to a low fat diet.  Products labelled ‘low fat’ are not only dangerous to your health, they contain additives that are banned in many countries.

Contrary to popular belief, the fat you eat is not the fat that ends up on your body.  That fat is called body fat and body fat can only be produced by your own body. Your body converts ALL carbs food to glucose.  Glucose is liquid sugar.  When you have more glucose than you can use, your body turns it into  Body fat.  That’s the fat that’s stored on your body.  It can only come from the excess carbohydrates you eat.  The fat you eat is not the same fat as body fat.  Your body needs it and what it doesn’t use gets turned into glucose.

What is glucose?  Glucose is the fuel your body favors whenever it has to replace the energy you use.  If you don’t do much exercise, you wont’  use much glucose.  Your body cannot store excess glucose.  It is forced to turn it into body fat.

What happens if your body doesn’t have enough carbs food to make the glucose you need for energy?   Nothing bad happens.  Your body will start drawing on some of that body fat you have stored on your tummy, hips and thighs.  What if you run out of excess body fat?   Well, you’ll be a lot slimmer.  Your body will convert some proteins food into glucose and burn that.  bear in mind: Your ancestors traditional diet was between 0- 20% carbs food.  I think you’ll agree they spent a lot more energy than we do.

A normal requirement of carbs food for the human body would be no more than the amount  our ancestors used.  Given that our traditional diet was a high protein diet, the normal requirement of carbohydrates is pretty low.  If you have a weight problem; make sure it is no more than 10% of your diet.  If you do not have a weight problem, make sure it is no more that 20% of your diet.

The point is, in a world of vested interests and self-promoting misinformation, it is imperative that you learn to understand your own body. Things like, what it does with the food you eat.  Until you do, you’ll be easy prey to anyone who makes a living, promotes a product, or in any way profits from your weight problem.

Michael Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

Michael asks…

What exactly does a low carbs diet consist of and does it really work?

What foods exactly does a no carbs diet consist of and does that actually really work?

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

admin answers:

A low carbs diet consists of proteins food like: meat, poultry, fish, seafood and eggs.  It should also include some nuts and avocado.  As to carbs food; They can include all natural produce that is grown on a farm, except root vegetables like potatoes.  The best vegetables are leafy greens and so called green vegetables.  Those are the easiest for your body to process.   As to fruit?  Remember: once in the body, all fruit becomes glucose.  Glucose is liquid sugar.  The best fruit you can eat is berries.  If you have a weight problem, limit your carbs food to 10% of your diet.  For the fastest, best weight loss, cut them out all together.  The people who cry fowl over this advice are the same people who profit from your weight problem and cannot get their tongue around the words; protein diet.   Trust me: Your ancestors survived an entire ice age on a no carbs diet.

Forget calories and forget diets. Start living the way that makes your body feel healthy. Not some self elected diet expert’s interpretation of what tastes good and must therefore be good for you.  To get the facts about the protein diet your body wants you to eat,  just click the link below:

Mandy Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

Mandy asks…

Is a no carbs diet really healthy for type2 diabetes?

My mom suspects that I have diabetes so what does she do? Cut’s every single carbs food from my diet instead of taking me to see a doctor. I haven’t had a carbs food in days and I feel really sick. I don’t understand how eggs and butter are more healthy than wheat toast with some jam. I’ve been taught that a no carbs diet and a low carbs diet  are bad for you if you are an active person. They say you should rather watch your calories. But aparently I am wrong… help please?

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

admin answers:

Mandy, yes! you are wrong.  It is not about whether you understand the food you eat.  What is important is that you body can understand it.   The human body evolved and thrived on a protein diet.  For the past forty years we have done everything possible to get the body used to a carbs food diet.  Our body does not adapt – it evolves.  It gets sick in a variety of ways when we give it the WRONG food.  There is ample evidence that our body is getting the wrong food.  How?  Obesity, type2 diabetes, heart disease various cancers.  They are all diet related diseases and they have  all been on a steady increase for the past forty years.

The most likely reason you feel sick is that you are probably going through the withdrawals of carbohydrate addiction.  One of the most common results of eating todays carbs food diet.  Trust me, carbohydrate addiction is every bit as debilitating and painful as withdrawals from any other kind of drug.  When you come out of it, your cravings for wheat toast and jam will be gone.  Listen to your mother. But also urge her to take you to a doctor for a complete examination.

Steven Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

Steven asks…

What’s the difference between a high protein diet and a low carbs diet?

I would like to lose weight. I feel like I have to put myself on a “diet” because otherwise I’ll have no clue what I can and can’t eat, and what I should and shouldn’t be doing. Whats the difference between a low carbs diet, and a high protein diet? Are they the same? If not, whats better?

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

admin answers:

There is no difference. It’s semantics.  A low carbs diet IS a high protein diet.  People in the diet industry go to great lengths to avoid using the words protein diet.

Whichever low carbs diet you use, be sure to stay below 20% carbs food. Also make sure it includes a reasonable amount of fat.  Never use low fat products. They are dangerous and are banned in many countries.  If your goal is to lose weight quickly, stay below 10% carbs food.  Be sure to eat plenty of proteins food.  You will not lose more weight by going hungry, but you will lose it a lot slower.

William Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

William asks…

How can I lose weight faster on a low carbs diet?

I have been on a low carbs diet for 20 days now and have been very good. I check my ketones throughout the day and the urine stip thing _always_ indicates that I am in ketosis. AND YET I haven’t lost any weight! Like I have only lost a couple of pounds. My mother lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks. No idea what I’m doing wrong here.

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [Low carbs diet]2

admin answers:

Are you eating enough calories?  For a long time we have been persuaded that weight loss depends on fewer calories.  That is completely wrong.  On a protein diet, You can eat as much as you like so long as it is predominantly proteins food and fat.  If you cut calories, your body slows down your metabolism and conserves as much fat as it can.  If you are exercising, your caloric need is much greater.  The higher the fat ratio, the faster and easier the weight will drop off.  Stay away from any processed and packaged shakes and food bars.  No matter what the label says, they will stop your weight loss cold.

Measure your body everywhere and use that to gauge your progress rather than the scales. A low carbs diet creates lean tissue even without exercise.  So you may gain 10# of lean tissues & lose 11# of fat & it will only show a net loss of 1 pound but you’ve drastically altered your body.

There is no reason to ever go off a low carbs diet.  When you have lost the weight you can slowly re-introduce a few additional carbs food favorites.  As long as carbs food never exceeds 20%.  Everyone has a different tolerance level to carbs food.  Mine is well below 10%.  But then, I have a dysfunctional thyroid. Most of us do low carbs food most of the time.  If we cheat, we slip back on the low carbs diet the next day.

The quickest way to lose weight is to eat nothing but meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you’ll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

Your body won’t release any of that stored  body fat  if you lower your calories below what it needs.  It will only release body fat  when it knows there is plenty of food.  Carbohydrates trigger insulin, the ONLY fat storage hormone. Proteins food  triggers the fat burning hormone glucagon.

Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

George Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

George asks…

Can you tell me what are some high protein foods?

I’m told that high protein foods are best for getting healthy and losing weight.  I want to do it right so I need to know what proteins food is best to eat.

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

admin answers:

Meat is obviously at the top of the high protein foods.   Followed by poultry, fish seafood and eggs.

As for carbs food, stick to the vegetables that grow naturally above ground and limit you fruit to berries.

Joseph Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

Joseph asks…

What are the nutritional benefits of meat that you cannot get in any other high protein foods?

I always hear people say you should not be a vegetarian because it’s not healthy. But of course we all know that you can get proteins food from lots of other plants and such. So is there any nutritional value to meat (i.e chicken, pork, beef, turkey, lamb), that you cannot get anywhere else but eating meat.

Further do you think you are healthier if you do or do not eat meat? Why or Why not

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

admin answers:

I don’t know where you get your information but first;  All vegetables, fruits, grains and lentils are 100% carbohydrates, – without exceptions.  Those are the facts.  Carbs food cannot provide you with protein, under any circumstances.  So let me explain the difference between Proteins food and carbs food.  Proteins food  builds and mends your bones, skin, muscles, tissue and organs.  This cannot be achieved with carbs food.  That’s why proteins food is so essential to our health particularly for growing children.

Carbs food, no matter whether it is a lettuce leaf, an apple or a slice of bread, will be turned into glucose by your own body as soon as it gets into your system.  What is glucose? It is liquid sugar.  It is the stuff that fuels your body.  Your body, just like your car, needs fuel to run.  If you do not run it, no fuel can be spent.   Your body cannot store glucose, it is forced to turn it into what we call Body Fat.  Body fat is the same fat you’ll find stored on your body if you are overweight.  It is the fat that makes you fat.  That means excess carbs = fat on your body.

Throughout history, we have spent long and short periods without any carbs food.  We have always survived healthy because our body has simply switched to burning proteins food, instead of carbs food.   We can survive and thrive without carbs food.  But there is no substitute for proteins food,  that’s why we cannot live without it.

Lizzie Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

Lizzie asks…

For growth are high protein foods better – or should I favor carbs food?

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

admin answers:

The average typical American diet consists of 2-3 times more carbohydrates than it should for maintaining good health.  To build muscle you need high protein foods and you need to do resistance exercises.  Since it is high protein foods that grow and mend your muscles and tissue, it stands to reason that you need a high protein diet.  Carbs food is for bulking up.  It is also a short cut to addiction and a lifetime of weight problems.  If you want to know “how your body works’”  so you can take advantage of it and get the best results, the you need to read:

Paul Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

Paul asks…

What’s the best way to accelerate muscle development while exercising?

I exercise about 3-5 times a week with a balanced adequate workout and I want to know what kind of high protein foods or products I can use to healthily accelerate my muscular mass increase as fast as possible. By fast I’m not expecting it to be days fast, I just want to know which, amongst the available options is the fastes between them.

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

admin answers:

When you want to improve your body, you will always get the best and fastest result when you collaborate with your own body.  That will happen when you eat the kind of high protein foods your body understands.  That means an emphasis on meat, poultry, fish, seafood and eggs.  To that you add some nuts, avocado and greens.   Drink plenty of water and get 8 hours sleep a night.

James Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

James asks…

Protein…??

What type of nuts gives you the most and best high protein foods?? I’m a vegetarian and i need to get some high protein foods!

So what type of nuts are the best to get alot of protein???

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [high protein foods]

admin answers:

Macadamia nuts lead the field.  But you will do well to realize that human beings were created to eat a diet of high protein foods.  All vegetables, fruits and grains are carbohydrates.  It is not very safe to be a vegetarian.  Our traditional diet was built on high protein foods  and we all followed it till forty years ago.  That’s when we suddenly reserved our diet.  Our body does not simply adapt to new foods, or anything else.  it evolves.  Evolution takes a lot longer than forty years.  When you play around with carbohydrates and ignore proteins food, as you must do to follow a vegetarian diet, you are acting against the interests of your own body.  You are eating foods your body doesn’t understand.   You are saying: I know better than nature!   You do that at your peril.

The Secret Of What Is Protein {video}

What Is protein and what does it mean to you?

As frightening as that is, a huge percentage of people don’t know what is protein.

That’s because diet food, snack food and cereal food manufacturers, along with most diet food experts, don’t want you to know.  And it is not in their interest to tell you.

You see, till forty years ago, most people still stuck to our traditional diet and that diet was mostly protein rich foods. Unlike carbs food,  proteins food is not suitable for product creation, processing, and production. In other words: There is no money in proteins food.  Carbs food on the other hand, has been used to create countless cereal, diet and snack food products. – All highly addictive, fake Foods!

Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

Sandy Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

Sandy asks…

Why do people say “Carbs are bad”, when the Food Pyramid says you have to eat mainly Carbs food?

Are carbs food good or bad? Because constantly in the media we see reports saying: “Dont eat carbs food! They are bad!”…but then the Food Pyramid says you have to mainly eat seven servings of breads/grains (carbs) a day?!  We are getting mixed messages from nutritionists!

It’s hard trying to be healthy when we get sent mixed messages about what is “healthy” and what isn’t!

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

admin answers:

You are absolutely right.  The food pyramid is a marketing tool for food manufacturers.  Nutritionists base their theories on 1970′s ideas about dieting.  Both are equally wrong.  Why do they mislead you?   it’s how they make their living.  Chances are, they believe their own nonsense.  Instead of listening to misinformation and lies, try to listen to your own body.   If it could – your body would tell you it is not designed to diet.  Diets are a way to reduce calories.  This is a signal to your body that you are in a famine.

Your body is programmed to protect you in a famine.  It does that by slowing your metabolism and preparing to conserve and store fat.   As soon as your Famine is over your body will do everything possible to restore whatever weight you have lost.  It will also add some extra weight to prepare you for the next famine.  Everybody diets and now you know why everybody is getting fat.

Don’t ever listen to diet ‘experts’.  Most are employed by the dairy and cereal food industries.  They believe in the food pyramid not because it is good for your health, but because it is good for their business.  These industries have a stranglehold on the government’s official nutrition guidelines.

Even Harvard’s School Of Public health calls it a sham.

Stop being a victim to vested interests and learn how to permanently remain slim and healthy using you own body as your ally.

Sandra Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

Sandra asks…

Does eating carbs food like the Food pyramid suggest’s, raise cholesterol levels?

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

admin answers:

It would all depend on the source of the carbohydrates. The food pyramid is a joke, it’s not based on science but on what growers and manufacturers would like us to eat.  To eat healthy carbs food simply avoid all food that is processed and packaged.  If a food is wrapped, packaged, boxed,  or in any way processed – avoid it.   We might think some of these foods are healthy, but our body does not.  Evolution takes centuries, not a few decades.  Our body has simply not evolved to process factory produced foods.   Another point to remember: The sedentary individual simply does not need a high intake of carbohydrates.

When the body is at rest, watching tv, computing, walking, light house work, desk work, etc. The primary energy source is free fatty acids not glucose.  No carbohydrate, however great it is said to be, has no use other than to turn into glucose.   What is glucose is liquid sugar.   It is the fuel your body used to burn energy.  If you don’t use it your body turns it into body fat.  All that means is that unless you are an athlete, the more carbs food you eat – and cannot burn off – the fatter you get.

Mandy Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

Mandy asks…

Vegetables Daily Eating Habits, which are healthier? Food Pyramid carbs dinner dietary nutrition?

Please list the order of popular vegetables in order of healthiness:
carrots, celery, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, etc. etc.
(because lettuce i read is 95% water, very little nutritional content etc.)

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

admin answers:

All fruit and vegetables are carbohydrates foods.   Your body converts every single one you eat into glucose.  So it really doesn’t serve a purpose to rate them.   The only difference between a good carbs food and a bad carbs food is whether it has a natural origin so that your body has evolved to process it.   What is glucose?  It is liquid sugar.  It is what your body likes to use as fuel.

Mary Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

Mary asks…

healthiest food from the grain group in the food pyramid?

i dont eat any bread/rice/pasta/noodles so i guess i need more carbs food but i eat oatmeal and shredded wheat everyday. besides oatmeal, whats are some really really healthy from the bottom of the food pyramid? i know quinoa is but i can never find it. compared with oatmeal, is brown rice healthier?

Thanks!

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

admin answers:

There is nothing healthy about grain food.  Humankind would not exist if it had depended on grain food for survival.   All grain foods are highly addictive.  You dont need more carbs food. it sounds to me like you need a lot more proteins food.  You also need to stop counting calories. They are irrelevant and they make us obsessed about food.

Linda Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

Linda asks…

What percentages of food groups make up the food pyramid?

I know the basics of the food pyramid- more carbs food, a little less proteins food, little fat, etc. But what does that break down into percentage-wise?

My averages for the last week are:
Calories: 885
Carbs: 52%
Fat: 21%
Protein: 19%
Alcohol: 7%

I know 885 is less calories than recommended for most people, but it’s okay for me; much more than that, and I have health problems I don’t want to go into here.

Are these good percentages? What are acceptable ranges for each group?

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [food pyramid]

admin answers:

Forget percentages, forget calories and start listening to your body.  It’s not complicated.  it just expects you to know and understand the type of food it has evolved and learned how to process.  That means a lot less carbs food.  A lot more proteins food and more fat.   Don’t bother with the food pyramid – it’s abysmal, and was funded and designed by the grain growers of America association, hence the ridiculously high amount of carbs food recommended.

Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

Lizzie Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

Lizzie asks…

I’m told I need a high protein diet so please explain exactly what is protein?

Also, what should I also eat when I work out. I mostly use the treadmill a lot I walk 3mph. for 30min on a 3 upcline

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

admin answers:

You should eat a high protein diet whether you work out or not.  A high protein diet consists of unlimited meat, poultry, fish seafood, eggs, fat and limited nuts, avocado and yellow cheese.  To that you add small serves of leafy greens and green vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and snow peas.  For dessert eat berries with whipped cream or pancakes made from eggs beaten with dash of cream and Splenda to taste. (sugar substitute).

Always be cautious with fruits (except berries) and vegetables (except greens)   All fruit and vegetables are 100% carbs food.  So choose carefully and limit the serves.

Helen Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

Helen asks…

For a Low Carb High Protein diet, please explain what is protein….?

Can someone please give me good tips on a high protein low carb diet? I don’t want to cut out all the carbs food, but just lower my intake of proteins food... Can someone please give me some examples of what is protein?

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

admin answers:

Here is the definitive answer to; what is protein.  Protein is the stuff your body uses to build and mend your bones, skin, muscles, tissue and organs.  Without proteins food you don’t live.

What are carbohydrates?  All carbs food, whether it is a slice of bread, a lettuce leaf or a spoon of cereal, are all treated the same way by your body.  They are broken down and turned into glucose.  What is glucose?  It is liquid sugar and it is the fuel your body uses to burn when you need to spend energy.  In today’s diet we are taught that many carbohydrates are a health food.  Natural, unprocessed carbs food do possess certain nutrients, but those nutrients cannot survive the period between their harvest and the time they reach your dinner table.  Unless you live on a food producing farm, by the time you eat your carbs food, all they can do is provide you with fuel.

Compared to what was a normal lifestyle in the past.  Today’s normal lifestyle requires very little energy.  Yet most of us eat a diet dominated by carbs food.  The body has no way to store all the glucose it makes and doesn’t use.   All it can do is store it as body fat.  What is body fat?  It is the fat that sticks to your tummy, thighs and hips.  It clogs your arteries and forms a layer of fat around your vital organs.  This is very different to the fat you eat.  Edible fat is an essential part of your body’s requirement for a healthy protein diet.  It needs to be an important part of the proteins food you eat.

Sandy Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

Sandy asks…

What is protein and can I use a protein diet while pregnant?

I have gained almost 40 pounds since the beginning of my pregnancy. My doctor has advised me to LOSE weight and doesn’t want me to gain anymore….unusual to me because my baby should gain another 3 or 4 pounds before I give birth…but none the less, does anyone have suggestions for things I can eat? She wants me on a high protein low carb diet, but a lot of the proteins food that meet the criteria are high in fat.   I don’t see why they would be better for me to eat. I already know that nuts, peanut butter and lean meats are good for a protein diet, any suggestions? I am totally frustrated.

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

admin answers:

You raise a number of issues.  First, you do not want to eat lean meat.  You need some fat.  The fat you eat is very different to the fat that ends up on your body.  That fat is called body fat.  It is made from the carbohydrates foods you eat.  When you consider that only proteins food can build our bones skin muscles tissue and organs.  Surely that should clarify why your baby needs you to be on a high protein diet.  What your bady doesn’t need is a mom who carries a lot of body fat. That’s the fat manufactured by your body from all the carbs food you eat.   Take a look in the local school yard.  You’ll see all the poor little fat kids whose’s mom’s feed them lots of cereals and other carbs food.  Don’t  let your baby grow up to be one of them.

Carbs food = not only fat on your body, but on your baby’s body as well.  Do what your doctor says and eat a low carbs, high protein diet.  There’s a good chance then that both you and your baby will become fit and healthy.

GOOD LUCK, AND CONGRATULATIONS ON BABY

George asks…

high protein low carb diet?

Hey…I’d like to know what is a high protein low carb diet?  Basically,I don’t understand what is protein and how it is different to carbs food.

kirsten1 cropped Your Questions About Carbohydrate Addicts [what is protein]

admin answers:

Proteins food and carbs food are two completely different foods and your body treats them accordingly.  Our body is a food processing machine.  It produces two products. Energy and fuel.

Carbohydrates foods are converted to glucose [liquid sugar] which is the fuel your body uses when you exercise.  If insufficient carbs food is present, when you exercise, your body will draw on  proteins food to give you the glucose you need for fuel.  What that means is we can exist without carbs food.  We have done so many times throughout human history.   But we cannot exist without proteins food.

That’s because proteins food builds and mends our bones, muscles, tissue, skin, and organs.  In other works:  Protein foods give us life’s energy.  Carbs food can help us spend it – but only if we already have enough energy to do so.

Two weeks ago today I started a low carbs diet and I’ve lost 10 lbs! But, I’m starting to get tired of the same old foods and I’m afraid I will end up quiting my diet. I know what the basics are that I can eat on this diet. Meat, cheese, eggs, salads, green veggies. Does anyone know any other food or creative food/meal ideas that can give me more of a variety to help me stick to this diet?

You might enjoy this site: dlife.com. It is a diabetic site, but it is full of recipes. You can search recipes by criteria needed, such as low carb, low fat, low sodium, etc. The recipes are simple and most only require ingredients that you already have on hand.  Most diabetics are on a controlled low carbs diet.  That means diabetic site that has recipes suitable for a low carbs diet.

Try to focus on recipes that have a high protein, low carb foods.  Select low carb foods and low sodium, but do not select low fat recipes.  The fat on your body – know as body fat,  doesn’t come from the fat you eat.  It is produced by your own body from the excess carbohydrates foods you eat.   You body uses all carbs food, whether a piece of fruit, a slice of bread or a bowl of cereal, to produce glucose.  Glucose is the fuel you use when you spend energy.  If you don’t spend much energy, you’ll be left with excess glucose.  Your body cannot store glucose.  It is forced to turn it into body fat.  That’s the fat that sits on our body and is so hard to burn off.

The lesson you have learned, as we all learn eventually – if we diet, is that diets don’t work!  They can’t our body is not designed to diet.  When you reduce your calories your body reacts to famine.  Your body is programmed (evolved) to respond to famine in only one way.  It slows down your metabolism and gets ready to store body fat.  That means as soon as you stop dieting, your body will go all out to regain every ounce of weight you have lost.

It doesn’t just stop there.  It will also add additional weight because it anticipates another famine in the future. Your body wants to make sure you are protected.  This is how your body is programmed, it’s called nature and we are powerless to change it.  We shouldn’t want to!

Instead of challenging and opposing nature, you need to learn how to work with it.  If you do that, you will get the best weight loss, with the quickest way to lose weight that you have ever imagined.  How?  Your body doesn’t want the weight anymore than you do.  So if you do what your body wants,  it will not only help you lose the weight.  it will make sure the weight never comes back.

You can add poultry, fish and seafood.   I think its great that you want to be healthy!   While you are still growing it’s important that you get enough proteins food.  Carbs food is good only for one thing.  Your body breaks it down into glucose, that’s liquid sugar, and it uses it for fuel.  If you don’t have much carbs food to burn, your body will turn to proteins food and fat to burn energy.

What is protein – and what does it do?  It builds and repairs your bones, skin, muscles, tissue and organs.   We can’t live without it.  Our teens are the most crucial period for growth.  it’s a time when we require the most proteins food.  Instead of a bowl of  ’energy’ cereal, you should be eating a big serve of bacon and eggs.  That’s what will give you the strength to burn some of the energy you create from the cereal.   The one point you need to take away and always remember is that:  History has proved many times that we can live and thrive without carbs food.   But we cannot exist without proteins food.   Check out the previous answers on this page.  You’ll find a link to lots of suitable recipes.

There is no such thing as low carbs food,  or low sugar food.  A unit of food is either a carbs food, a proteins food or a fat.  You can chose to go on a low carbs diet but that basically means a high protein low carb diet.  Manufactured, so-called low carbs food is extremely addictive and can be disastrous to health.  Focus on high protein food like bacon and eggs for breakfast.  Lots of Tuna, Salmon, Ham or other lunch meat with a small green salad for lunch and a generous serve of meat, poultry or fish, with a green salad for dinner.  Make a huge batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want “something” between meals.  A bowl of cooked, spicey chicken wings also makes for a tasty snack.

Other food ideas: – A huge omelet with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops smothered with peppers, mushrooms & cheese – pork rinds & dip or tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salad – steaks – a huge sugar free cheese cake.

Always eat as much as you need to never feel deprived.

Cabbage makes an excellent pasta substitute Make a lasagna with blanched cabbage leaves & thinly fried eggplant instead of noodles. Sugar free pasta sauce over fried cabbage. My fav is chicken cacciatore, I add greens & flaxseed or chia seed for body and also add pizza toppings – pepperoni, mushrooms, lots of mozzarrella. Alfredo sauce is also low carb..

I make a lot of shredded cabbage & mayo or fried cabbage if I’m a bit more ambitious. I cook up some bacon & throw in onions & let them fry & it makes any salad extra special (BLT) Avocado & turkey is great on a salad – Grilled chicken or fajita meat & fried onions too. Sometimes I’ll make a canned salad – can mackerel, can baby corn, can water chestnuts, can bamboo shoots, can artichoke hearts, can sweet red peppers & add in mayo & chia seed gel.

Kim Chee is a fermented cabbage salad & is suppose to be one of the most healthy foods in the world. You can make a huge batch & it will sit in refrigerator fine for a long time.

I usually make huge batches of food & freeze most of it. I cook meats 20-30# at a time (for just me) I have gone into the forums for recipes (especially when I first started low carb) I was shocked that fried “rice” made with grated cauliflower tasted just like it’s name sake. Shirataki noodles are traditional in Japanese sukiyaki and low carb. I’ve heard faux mashed “taters” made with cauliflower & cream cheese can fool non low carbers. “potato” salad using cauliflower instead.

Chia seeds sound so expensive but 1# will make 10# food (when you can splurge some – Amazon.com has couple lbs. For $16 shipped to you. I buy mine in bulk – 24# for $5.83# with free shipping at getchia.com

I also order off Amazon – Lowrey’s Pork Rinds 18 for $15 – they pop like popcorn & are portion controlled.

Faux tapioca – 2 cups of water, 5 scoops of low carb whey protein powder, stir together & add cup of chia seeds, after they have started to absorb the water, add in 2 cans of coconut milk (or cream and added water during induction) & artificial sweetener if you like and mix it all in. Can be eaten after an hour but will be better tomorrow. Cream a pkg. Of cream cheese into a can of pumpkin & add to the faux tapioca for an even more nutritious pumpkin pie pudding.

(berries are lowest glycemic) Cheesecake – strawberry ice cream (frozen berries, cream, a stick blender) – pork rinds great crunch – canned fish “steaks” or mackerel – avocado/mayo/cayenne dip – olives

A 60% carb diet is what keeps most of America fat! Keep in mind that if you are eating a low carbs diet, the majority of your calories are coming from proteins food and fat.  Do not be afraid of fat, or proteins food. They are vital foods. Chose them as your preference whenever possible.. What’s wrong with a lean steak, ground turkey, chicken breasts, bison, mixed nuts, peanut butter, eggs, salmon, red snapper, etc??? There are a number of healthy choices out there if you are eating healthy protein foods. Get creative, and make up some of your own recipes!  You will find plenty of recipes in other answers on this page.
