For the sake of your friend’s health (and her wallet) , try to avoid pills if possible.

Exercise does not have to be that time consuming or difficult. It can be as simple as walking & need only take 30 or so minutes out of your day (which is nothing really). Even walking 15 mins to school,work or the shops & 15 mins home again would be sufficient & enjoyable.

I do not advocate a diet for anyone.  If you and your friend have a weight problem. If you have been on several diets and lost and regained some weight.  If you crave particular foods.  If you occasional binge eat – Then it is almost certain you are addicted to carbohydrates foods.   That means your #1 priority is to cure your carbohydrate addiction.  Until you do that you will never lose the weight for good.  And what is the point of starving yourself to lose weight if you know the weight is guaranteed to come back – plus a little extra for protection.

I cannot recommend any diet as a solution to a weight problem.  It may surprise you to learn that until forty years ago, the vast majority of people had never experienced a weight problem.  Obesity statistics were non-existent.  So was type2 diabetes.   The ‘diet talk’ that is promoted everywhere today,  is false and it is dangerous to our health.  If you have any doubt, look around. I Think I’m a Carbs Food  Addict. Help!!!!!!!!?

Help! I believe I am addicted to carbs food. I ate over 4,000 calories today, mostly bad carbohydrates foods, I can’t control my carbs food binging. I have intense body dissatisfaction, even though I’m 9 lb. underweight for my height and I have a high metabolism. After my binges I have intense feelings of guilt and shame, and attempt to purge but never actually do.

I have an addiction. Whenever I try to stop eating bad carbs, I have withdrawl symptoms, where I can’t think of anything but carbs, which leads to binges. Sometimes I eat a whole pizza that is 2,500 calories or a gallon of ice cream, I don’t gain weight, but I will eventually obviously.

I’m thinking of just chewing the carbs food and spitting them right back out, and then eating healthy food to control my carbohydrate addiction. Is this a good way to go about it? Since I’m too much of a wuss to purge the food.

First there are 2 kinds of carbs food.  The good and the bad.   Good carbs food are the natural foods that nature produces and humankind have evolved to used and enjoy.  Bad carbs food are those that have been processed in a mill or a factory.  That means all grains except those that people have used to make bread for the past 10,000 years.  It does not include bread that comes from a factory.  A bad carbs food,  is any food that is processed, packaged and available on a shelf in the food mart.

There really are only 3 kinds of food that human beings eat on a regular basis.  Proteins food, carbs food and fat.  I have already covered carbs food.   As to fat, all I’ll mention is that the fat you put in your mouth is not the kind of fat that sits on your hips, nestles around your vital organs and clogs the arteries.  That kind of fat is made by your body.  It comes from all that surplus carbohydrates foods you have been unable to burn off in energy.  Your body cannot store carbs food so it’s forced to turn into fat cells.

Lastly, and the most important, we have proteins food.  They have become very misunderstood. A food is either a carbohydrate, or it is something else like a protein foods or fat.   You can have all 3 on the same plate.  Like, you can stuff a fat chicken with breadcrumbs. But they all start out independently. As for Carbohydrates in general, they cover a very wide range of food.  Good carbohydrates are vegetables, particularly those that grow above ground.  All fruits are carbohydrates.  Most have a very high sugar content.   The best carbohydrates foods are those people ate throughout evolution. In other words; food that grows in nature.  As to Bad carbohydrates.  Anything that comes out of a factory or a processing plant, in other words; anything you buy pre packaged,  should carry a label with a skull and crossbow.   It is not real food.  It contains chemicals, transfat and loads of salt and sugar.

Carbohydrate IS sugar and all carbohydrates end up as glucose, (Sugar).  That includes bananas.  Carbohydrates foods is what you body uses to replenish you energy if and when you’ve used it.  The fat you eat is very different to the fat we call body fat. That’s what our body manufactures from surplus carbohydrates that we have not been able to use for energy.  The fat you eat does not make you fat. It simply gets burned along with your carbs food.  Its carbs food that makes you fat.

The human body cannot store glucose (sugar).  If you don’t burn it up your body converts it to body fat and stores it on your body.

I don’t know that you can say carbohydrates stunt your growth.  What we should say is that protein foods are the most important food to human beings.  They are what builds and repairs you muscles, skin, tissue, bones and organs.  We cannot grow and thrive without protein foods.  We can, and have often lived without carbohydrates.  That’s because our body has only one use for carbohydrates and that’s for fuel.  Since the body is able to convert protein foods into glucose, just as well as it does with all carbs food,  it’s fair to say carbohydrates foods are clearly not essential to human survival, the way protein foods are.

I am 13 years old and I am 120 pounds. Though most people think that’s a fine size I would still like to lose at least 7 pounds. I exercise about an hour a day and I usually burn about 500 calories! I have tried diets like low carbs food diets, low fat foods diets, and south beach! I get motivated for about a week or 2 then I fall off my diet! I’m also a internet addict so I have to force myself to get active! I need the kind of  fast diets that gives me the  best weight loss.

 Low fat foods diets were exposed and discredited more than ten years ago.  I can’t believe they have made a come-back.  The fat you eat is not the fat that sticks to your body and becomes body fat.  Body fat, is manufactured by your body.  It turns all carbs food into glucose.  Glucose is sugar.  It’s the fuel your body uses to burn energy.   The body cannot store glucose.  What you don’t use for energy is converted to fat and stored on your body.  Here are a few equations all kids should learn in school:

  • Our body creates glucose/fuel from the carbs food we eat.
  • The less exercise we do the less fuel/energy we burn.
  • All excess fuel/glucose, not used for energy,  is converted to fat cells
  • The more carbohydrates foods we eat – the fatter we get.
